Keep Things Simple With the Ram 2500 Tradesman
Getting the right truck with everything you need isn’t always as simple as it should be; not only do you have a lot of different models to choose from out there, but plenty of trims and options too. As your Ram dealer in Houston, you know we love trucks with robust power and capabilities, impressive tech features, and the muscle to help you get jobs done.
That being said, we also appreciate that sometimes you just want a terrific truck without a bunch of extra bells and whistles that you don’t really need. If you are looking for something with impressive power that also helps you keep things simple, then the 2025 Ram 2500 Tradesman is a terrific choice with a lot to offer. Let’s take a closer look at what you get with this truck and some of the extra options worth keeping in mind.
Ram 2500 Power and Performance
There’s no better place to start when looking at a truck than the engine and performance features, since so much of what you get from your pickup depends on this. Ram offers two engines for the Ram 2500; as the starting trim level, the Tradesman comes with the standard 6.4L HEMI V8 engine that provides 405 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for enhanced power and capabilities, then you can choose the available 6.7L High-Output Cummins turbo-diesel engine that delivers 430 hp and a massive 1,075 lb-ft of torque. Either engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission for a responsive drive.
Two-wheel drive is standard for the Ram 2500 Tradesman, which can work well for driving around Houston since you don’t have to deal with slush and snow like drivers in the north. If you drive on a lot of dirt and gravel roads, however, then you should strongly consider the available four-wheel drive, since that will give you superior traction in conditions where your tires are more likely to slip. A 31-gallon fuel tank is standard for the Tradesman, although a 50-gallon tank is available if you’re looking to go further with fewer stops for gas.
Towing and Payload Capabilities
As much as we appreciate everything the Ram 1500 has to offer, if you’re interested in the Ram 2500, then you’re probably looking to get more work done with your truck. Towing and payload with this pickup depend on a number of different factors, including the engine you choose, configuration options, and the axle ratio you get.
You’ll need to consider each of these elements when choosing the right overall setup for your truck, which is why our knowledgeable salespeople are here to answer your questions and make sure you get everything you need. With all of that in mind, when properly equipped, the 2025 Ram 2500 can handle up to 20,000 lbs of towing and 4,420 lbs of payload.
Configurations and Options
In addition to the different engines and drivetrains available for this pickup, you also have three different configurations offered for the Ram 2500 Tradesman. A Regular Cab with seating inside for three passengers is standard, with an eight-foot box that gives you a 140-inch wheelbase and 74.7 cu.ft. of cargo volume.
If you need to have more people along with you, then a two-row Crew Cab is available for the Tradesman that has seating for six passengers; this is offered with either the eight-foot box (giving you a 169-inch wheelbase) or a six-foot box that has a 149-inch wheelbase and 57.5 cu.ft. of cargo space. Ram offers a Mega Cab for this truck that has a more spacious back row, but it’s not available on the Tradesman trim.
Available Exterior Features
Looking at the outside of the Ram 2500 Tradesman, you get the standard features on this excellent truck, which include black front and rear bumpers, a matte black grille, LED reflector headlamps, and daytime running lamps. You get a standard locking tailgate, fixed lower tie-downs for the bed, and a monotone color scheme with several different exterior colors available.
If you want your truck to look a little sharper while you drive around Houston, then the available Chrome Appearance Group is a great choice. It gives you a chrome grille surround, chrome front and rear bumpers, and 18-inch chrome-clad steel wheels. However, that is far from the only option available.
Impressive Interior Features
In recent years, Ram has established itself as an industry leader when it comes to adding great features inside its trucks that make your daily drive easier and more enjoyable. Since the Tradesman is the starting trim for the 2025 Ram 2500, you're not going to find the most luxurious and sophisticated features here, but you still get some great stuff.
Air conditioning is standard to help with hot days driving around Houston, and you can add power door locks with Remote Keyless Entry. You get heavy-duty vinyl seating inside the Tradesman, with an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system, a 3.5-inch Driver Information Display, and a four-speaker sound system.
If you’re looking for something a little less modest, then a number of upgrades are available for the Tradesman to make your cabin a bit more refined. Dual-zone automatic temperature control is available to keep your passengers more comfortable, along with a seven-inch driver display, a 12-inch Uconnect 5 system with navigation, and a six-speaker sound system.
You can also get cloth seating inside the Tradesman, an upgraded steering wheel with audio controls, and more great features, which can improve your time driving around Houston each day. We love how simple the Tradesman keeps things, but many of these upgrades are worth considering.
Available Option Groups
Beyond some of the equipment groups and packages we’ve already looked at, there are a few available option groups that you should keep in mind when looking at the Ram 2500. One of the rarest is the Power Wagon Package, available only for the Tradesman. It upgrades the suspension, adds front and rear Bilstein shocks, and skid plates for the transfer case and fuel tank. You get Black powder-coated front and rear bumpers, a front disconnecting stabilizer bar, and 17-inch Power Wagon wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires with this package, transforming the Tradesman into an impressive off-road machine.
If you’re looking to do a lot of towing, then Ram offers a few different option groups to consider. The Towing Technology Group includes a Surround-View camera system for added visibility when maneuvering at low speeds, a Cargo-View camera, Trailer Reverse Guidance, and more. The Tow Technology Plus Group takes things even further with a digital rearview mirror to enhance visibility if you’re towing a large trailer, as well as Trailer Reverse Steering Control for enhanced steering while backing up. These kinds of options let you take things further and get more from your truck while driving each day.
Get the Right Truck for Houston Driving
As you can see, even keeping things simple with the base Tradesman trim still gets you an excellent truck that is perfect for getting your job done. The options available let you enhance your time on the road, plus you have a number of packages you can choose from that significantly upgrade the features of this pickup. If you’re looking for a lot of enhancements, particularly when it comes to the interior features of your truck, then it might be worth going with a higher trim like the Rebel or Laramie. But to keep things simple, while also ensuring you have tremendous power and capabilities at your disposal, the Tradesman is an excellent choice.
